somewhere in the badlands
good hands are doing heavy lifting
light work on the dark day
paving grays with amarillo, azul
other languages full of tangled colors
smothered parents declaring it's never been so before!
chores laid out like breakfast
neighbors hung out to dry
dirty clothes in the apple trees
breezy assumptions dumpling the charges
four counts of five
a felony of sorts in open court
sidewalk judgments trudging sentences
down across the cracks
the other sides of mothers' backs
tracking the orchestra
from first chair to home
roaming with no metronome
scoring a run in slanted sun
there are no vegetables on that plate
slate your speakers at the bureau
drawers full of inspiration:
you can be anyone you are!
hangers and handles
bangles for the wrist to twist into
a brew of haha disguises
surmising the mirror is easily fooled
tools of the tricks
spades of the trade
no one sees the ingredients
exponents multiply
parentheses first
bursts of hypnotized formulas
blasts of quadratic negatives
eggs give your face a glaze
honey eats your hair for breakfast
somewhere there is a plan for this
somewhere the rhymes are more subtle
stubble to trip over accidentally
corn stalks knocked like knees together
feathers of birds waiting to be heard
not scene stealers just plain dealers
cards on hands up sleeves sharking about
