justwrite 20 september

architects of indifference
build high the marble walls
sinks sunk into granite
counter-measures
there is comfort to be had here
steer clear rounded up
tasty melting meat in a raw mouth
ripe with teeth
there are cushioned steps
leading to no expectations
the windows are frosted:
snow, sun undone
outside there is a moral
quarreling with the gatekeeper
a sleeper cell tucked safe inside
not a tough ride to climb on
a long-gone key carelessly tossed
accidental whiplash forgotten
come to your senses
i'm coming i'm coming
a census light humming
zapping blue numbers from the air
who doesn't care
who weeps for these
weeps for corruption
the redemption of the crucible
arthur miller's toothy pull
harder than putting them back in
come to your door
point your compass outward
no two norths about it
no true storks would carry that in
