enter defender and shuffle off the buffalo the flow of summer slammed by clams and the need for them we feed our friends and our own mouths out of mountains of time the well-defined seconds helping themselves to our old closed and indisposed portions of minutes it’s tough when you’re in it but when you’re asleep there’s nothing that sheep can’t dig you out of the other night and then last I cast out pushed off the pool wall and slivered silverstraight through the YMCA sunlight the outside inside pool by the highway flashing aquawild glances at the commuters back from Harrisburg and trundling off to trindle road exploding into the suburbs before they were scored in such a manner no matter just lawn chairs just fireworks in the driveway late at night bundled up for celebratory glory staged across the way at the navy ships parts control center never remembered or even knew what they do or did there and can’t say I cared much just a soft touch of fireworks was all they needed for my support a torturous turn of thoughts sometimes rewinding back so far and thinking where they are and where I’m not and how I’ve got a lot more of self-created distance no subsistence farming no resistance alarming the dotted-line signers just the possibility miners digging in the dark harking happily to the ring of some singing thing discovered in a cave and the brave creators the rescuers splitting the night with dreams flashing with certainty
