22 june

emptying out and opening up: so many pieces / times / angles
the way we looked / i cooked / the thank-yous
puzzles from a different box / stage / wonder
wild as the past unfolding / surprising / refreshing
never again and always

forward boxes still to come / fill / empty
pictures to fade as memory turns / darkens / switchmisses
mirror as the sun sets / rises / guesses

to let go and not to carry / to have but not to hold
leave the dust and catch the light / brush off and keep what shines

but rust and pages bleached with age tell stories to be mulled
the pictures of forgotten times and brushes stale of stroke
i cannot throw them all away / nor would i leave behind
the beads and glue and watercolors for building bright the next
